My niece needed to do a report for school about Cheetahs so we ordered this book for her so that she could find out more information about them. The pictures are wonderful, she especially loves the one with the little cheetah cubs, and the information was easy for her to understand (She is in kindergarten). There is plenty of information in the book to help her finish her report and she is going to take the book to share with her class. Her older sister (8) read the book to her and enjoyed it also. She was able to read most of the book by herself with us helping with a couple of the words she had not seen before such as coalition (the book does give a pronunciation guide for this word as well as a few others, which is great). And they both loved the Cheetah joke about where does the Cheetah have the most spots. You will have to read the book to find the answer . They loved trying to make all the Cheetah sounds and were surprised to find out that Cheetahs chirp. (I didn’t know this either). This is the first National Geographic book that we have purchased for them but we will be buying others in the future. The only compliant that I have is now they both want a baby Cheetah for a pet. 

My 2 year old LOVES this entire series of Nat. Geo Readers... I have purchased about 25 different titles, "pre-readers" as well as Level 1 & 2 readers. She loves them all & will ask for certain ones. The "pre-readers" level books are extremely simple & great because she memorizes the words & can "read" it herself. We love the more advanced ones too, because there is more information to talk about. I have learned quite a few facts, myself!) What a great series. The price is reasonable & pictures are great. These are really getting her interested in nature, animals & science... I will continue to buy these as they are released, for our collection!

I purchased this book along with the Aurora World Miyoni Cheetah Cub Plush for my six year old niece: Aurora World Miyoni Cheetah Cub PlushThe book complemented the stuffed animal perfectly for a child who asked for a Cheetah Cub for her birthday. The National Geographic Kids books are AWESOME! Each page has many colored photographs and the information is accurate and engaging. My niece loved the book just as much as the stuffed plush.

I ordered this book for a second grade research project. The students were able to gather most of the information they needed from this one book. It contains wonderful, vivid photographs. If you are a primary grade teacher, the National Geographic Readers are perfect for teaching nonfiction text elements along with nonfiction reading comprehension (Common Core ELA Standards). Parents and children will enjoy these engaging books at home, too. They are interesting and informative.

Great book at a great price! My 5 year old son who loves animals in general and cheetahs specifically was thrilled to get it and has now read it to any family member or friend that he can find. Good reading level for children just getting confident with reading more than the most basic words and sentences. The book itself is very well done, with lots of great pictures and content. My boys really enjoyed the jokes including on several pages. The formatting is very graphically interesting, but not overdone and confusing like some other books.

The 5-year-old I bought this for absolutely loved it and insisted on bringing it to school today. She loves big cats and I bought her two books about them. This was the immediate favorite. She loved the cheesy jokes, and the repeated definitions definitely taught her words she didn't know (immediately after reading, she started playing with some of her toys and declared they were trying to hide from predators on the savanna). I will likely purchase more books from the series.

One of the granddaughters, age 3, has a collection and is crazy about cheetahs. After we read this book, the older granddaughter had to point out that her sister's collection probably contains more leopards, not cheetahs. Very informative book for little ones and grandmas too. The six-year-old really loved the "punny" riddles interspersed on the pages. But they did lose interest before we got to the final couple pages.

My 7 year old loves cheetahs so when I saw this book it was a must buy. He loved the book, it is easy enough for a kindergartner or 1st grader to read but also includes fun facts so my older kids equally enjoyed the book! I am a big fan of all the National Geographic kids book, I highly recommend for parents of kids that want to learn about animals.
